Marion House

Located on a half-acre lot in a subdivision surrounding a retention basin and constructed of standard materials within a restricted budget.  The solution is a warping of the bi-nuclear organization of the “International Style.”  The house curves around a double height entrance space with a stair designed after Michelangelo’s Laurentian Library.  The plan form is replicated in the fenestration and the stepped-down roofline of the entrance façade.  Breaking the spine of the otherwise straightforward plan, yet another of the permutations endemic to dialectical thinking is posited.
